-STOP! taci, nu te zbate, respiră- ochi mari , pleoape fine, gene mari, buze pline, piele tânără, suflet nevinovat- ochi mari , pleoape fine, gene mari, buze pline, piele tânără ,suflet nevinovat.......

How do changes in society influence people’s culture? What can slow down or speed up cultural development?

If we look for the word culture in dictionary, we will find this explanation: “Culture refers to the cumulative deposit of knowledge, beliefs, values, religion, relations, material objects and possessions acquired by a group of people in the course of generations through individual and group striving.”  And this is what a person or a society is appreciated by. It is send from generation to generation and it’s improving every decade. So that, this is an invaluable treasure, that makes us different from other creatures on this earth, and it’s a treasure that we should promote and develop. But nowadays  the society is the leader, people with all their sudden ideas , decisions, imagination and problems, with all the modernizations and freedom can produce a real chaos, a chaos that may lead to improvement or to a disaster.  Thus, there is a direct connection between the way society changes and the improvement or, on the contrary, the decreasing of the culture of people.
For example, the development of the technological innovations can improve our knowledge and the future generations will become professionals in what they do, and the level of their culture will increase fast and in a impressive way. On the other hand, if we and the future generations don’t control ourselves with all these innovations, we can become victims of the virtual life and so we will destroy even what we have. It is important to pass the barriers and to know the limits.Likewise, if people are forced by government to do or to accept something that they don’t want, for example a law , like marriage between two persons of the same sex, they may be influenced in a bad or a good way, but in both cases the national values and beliefs are affected, children become confused and this may slow down the natural development of the culture and thinking. Therefore, everything should be controlled, even freedom, because too much freedom leads to stupidity and forgetting of what is really important. In addition to what was said about the society I would like to mention that a society, a country , a nation is united trough it’s own values, language, attitude toward things and education, and others. So, if a nation is attacked or dismembered, as it happened with all the countries from the Soviet Union, or with other little countries which were subjugated by bigger and more powerful ones, as France with Napoleon, then the national culture is injured for sure, and its wounds remain fresh even after centuries or are never treated. If we speak about Moldova for example, our culture and national beliefs are still alive and people are still confused about everything, they don’t know what is their mother language, or who their ancestors are, they still speak their own language with mistakes and mix Russian with Romanian language  when speaking….and there are more other examples. So, how can we speak about cultural development when we don’t know who we are?Similarly to the things mentioned above, religion is also an important factor that participates at the process of slowing or speeding up the cultural development. Furthermore it educates and gives hope to those who are in need or to those who want grow, to improve the world. And depending on their nationality and religion, we can speak about the speeding the process of cultural development or about the slowing down. Consequently, if the religion is based on good and  peaceful ideas, then it brings a great benefit for the humanity, it highlights the beauty and makes a better place to live, its concepts lead to a world with smart, educated and good people. But such religions as Muslim or others less known, which allows hitting the women when they do something wrong or killing them when they want to divorce, then , this kind of religion is for sure a curse and it may lead to consequences that can’t be repaired.
In conclusion, the cultural development is a treasure that ancestors left us and we should promote and develop it because that is what makes us different from animals and that is what a society needs for living in a world where peace, love and intellect dominates. The social, economical, political, historical and religious changes may improve or decrease the culture of people.

Generation Gap

Life isn’t easy at all, especially for teenagers. Teens pass trough different periods during their development, and these periods are determined by changes of mood, by a flow of conflicts (inner, social), but the most frequent are the family conflicts, called as well generation gap, that means also : the difference in the attitude, priorities, and views among generations. Thus, this generation gap has always been there but these days it has reached to an explosive stage, so as, the values and patterns of life have changed to a great extent. Likewise, today, everybody likes to live and behave in his own way, to be left by his own, to be free. This attitude has widened the generation gap. It is now destroying family life . The elders look after the children and make all sorts of sacrifices to bring them up. Naturally, they feel they have a right over them. As a result, they want their children to follow their instructions as they have certain expectations from them. But the children, when they grow up, want a complete freedom in their thoughts and actions and unfortunately their thoughts and actions are just opposite to those expected by the elders. They revolt when any kind of restrictions are imposed on them. Consequently, some families break up and everything may get ruined. At the same time, the complexities of life are rising every decade, and problems intensify mainly when parents forget how did they behave, what problems did they encounter and what feelings did they have when they were children, especially teenagers. For otherwise ,when the teens enter the stormy problem of generation gap , it comes out with greater intensity than ever. For them, at this age, their friends suddenly become important , and they try to ignore parents. On the contrary, there are parents that ignore teens because of work problems, or personal ones. And eventually, parents or teens get mad, because they suffer from lack of affection. This causes great anxiety to parents and the misunderstandings increase between the children and the parents. The technological advances play a great rule in enlarging the gap as the younger generations are quicker to accept and adopt these technologies , so that, they consider the elders of their families very old fashioned in their tastes, opinions and out looks toward life. On the other hand, the older people don’t like the modern values which they call the " internet" and "globalization" values. They consider the young generation shallow, lacking knowledge and moral depth. This difference can best be seen in the difference of interests and hobbies. To sum up, conflicts between generations will always exist, and the gap is getting bigger because of the modernization, because of the technology , and the appearance of new interests and values. The desire of freedom is developing every year, as a result, the problems and complexities of life intensifies also. There are parents that ignore their children and children that ignore their parents, and that leads to misunderstands and quarrels….Even if we can not make the generation gap disappear, we can reduce it’s depth by communication and going out on vacations together , watching movies or by evening family outings.
